He may very well have attended the House Church of Sts. Prisca & Aquila:

When Paul arrived in Rome as a prisoner, Hermas may have been one of those who greeted him:
The brothers from there [Rome] heard about us and came as far as the Forums of Appius and Three Taverns to meet us.  On seeing them, Paul gave thanks to God and took courage.   - Acts 28:15
