The LORD is good to those who wait for Him,
a refuge on the day of distress,
Taking care of those who look
to Him for protection.
~ Nahum 1:7a
It's frustrating when we are feeling terror, intimidation, or undue torment. It is a relief when things turn around and peace comes our way. While it is o.k. to rejoice when oppression has stopped, our hearts must still make God our primary focus.
St. Nahum's short book is one to consider reading during times of oppression and violence. This Old Testament saint helps us to remember that trying times don't last forever, and that God evens things out in His own way in His own time - as He relieved Judah from the oppression of Nineveh.
