A Novena To Saint Jeremiah

St. Jeremiah Receiving A Message From God
(Jeremiah 1:11-14)
The Prophet Jeremiah (Feast Day - May 1) began to prophecy for the people of Judah 626 years before Jesus was born.  He felt apprehensive about speaking on behalf of God, but the LORD gave him the courage he needed.  It was a hard job.  Many times the Judahites ignored, scorned, or even abused him.  Though often discouraged, he persisted.  Jeremiah struggled to guide God's people away from increasing oppression; but, his advice was ignored, and the bulk of the nation of Judah began its decades-long Babylonian Captivity.  Jeremiah is a good saint to ask prayers for if you really try to do the will of God, but often feel misunderstood, rejected, or condemned.  The following novena offers nine Bible verses to contemplate.  Be sure to share your intention(s) with St. Jeremiah during the novena and ask him to pray for your intentions.

Day 1 -  Jeremiah 1:4-9
Day 3 - Jeremiah 17:5-8
The patriarchs, prophets, and certain other Old Testament figures have been and always will be honored as saints in all the Church's liturgical traditions. (CCC 61)
