Outside of our living room window we have a view of the top portion of a square stone pillar. Late this past summer, a woodpecker came to sit on that pillar nearly every day, seemingly to look into our living room and watch us. Then, we went to Virginia for a long weekend (my son's wedding) and when we returned, the woodpecker made one more visit and then left! Well, either the same woodpecker, or a very similar-looking one has returned recently. I'm not sure what this bird's visits mean ... if anything ... but I do enjoy seeing this friendly little creature. His (Her ?) visits feel like some of those little hellos from heaven... some of those countless gifts from God.
For everything created by God is good,
and nothing is to be rejected when received with thanksgiving.
~ 1 Timothy 4:4
My husband, who is very patient, and very good with a camera, captured this shot of our little visitor in flight ... with a pecan in its mouth!
