An Emmaus Walk On Easter Sunday

Easter, 2013

One of our holiday traditions is to take a family hike.  On Easter, though, this hike has special meaning to me.  It reminds me of St. Luke's narrative of St. Cleopas hiking to Emmaus with a friend (my favorite theory is that his friend was his wife). The two were confused and struggling to grasp the events of all that had been happening.

I guess we should make many of our hikes, walks, or strolls Emmaus-styled ... pondering the life of Jesus, what his life and death mean to us as Catholics/Christians ... and make special efforts to see a little piece of Jesus in at least one person we meet along the way.
